Foodscaping 101

  • The Nashville Food Project 5904 California Ave Nashville United States (map)

Want to grow food in your own yard or in your community? Come learn about creating edible ecosystems where we live, work, and play!

In this 2-day course, we will introduce participants to the design, installation, and maintenance of a foodscaping project. We will discuss principles and practices for creating resilient edible ecosystems, as well as explore the social, political, and ecological issues that compel us to reconnect with our food, land, and each other.

The course will be a mix of indoor presentations, hands-on activities, and a sidewalk tour of sites around the neighborhood that demonstrate foodscaping potential. Our goals are 1) to build a communal understanding of the importance of foodscaping in our society, and 2) to provide practical information so that participants leave this course with a broad understanding of the elements and tools needed to envision and manifest their own foodscaping aspirations.
