A Middle Tennessee native, some of Mary Kate’s defining childhood memories involve school recesses spent writing stories, eventually leading her toward an English degree from Lipscomb University. While in college, she discovered a passion for anti-poverty work through time spent with organizations addressing homelessness, food justice and worker’s rights in Nashville and across the Southeast.
Mary Kate’s background is in marketing and communications and she spent the last several years storytelling at her alma mater, connecting with students and building campus community. She joins The Nashville Food Project excited to have found a home at the intersection of storytelling and poverty-disrupting work.
Outside of work, you can find Mary Kate seeing live music, paddling the Harpeth in her kayak or curled up with a book.
