A Virtual Black History Experience for Disrupters

As we approach MLK Day, we invite you to participate in a new experience, birthed from a collaboration between The Nashville Food Project and Chakita Patterson with United Street Tours

On Monday, January 18th at 6:30 PM (CST), we welcome a live, interactive event The Black Experience: Nashville (A Virtual Black History Experience for Disrupters)

We invite those in our circles to commit to this experience as a small part of our collective dedication to engage in anti-racist work, learning and unlearning.

As we cannot physically gather on MLK Day to honor Dr. King’s legacy communally through acts of service, we can continue to do the work of identifying, discussing, and dismantling racism as we work towards his dream for the Beloved Community.

From United Street Tours:

See Nashville as you’ve never seen it before while enjoying the comforts of your home. The Black Experience - Nashville is a curated event that allows you to virtually visit historic spaces. Nashville is a prized Southern travel destination. But often omitted from the narratives about Nashville's past and present, is the city’s roots of slavery, civil rights, and the Black community. Now granted, Nashville, like many cities involved in the Transatlantic Slave Trade has a complex history that is often suppressed. These untold stories are the missing pieces needed to gain a fuller perspective. For many people, accessing this knowledge has proven difficult due to the history of omission and segregation. Therefore, The Black Experience provides foundational knowledge to build upon by exploring the historical landmarks and stories that connect us.

Can’t attend in real-time? Register to receive a link to the recorded video following the evenings conclusion and have access to watch on your own time up to two weeks after the live event!
